What about when she told Skinner that she believed Mulder's ailment was caused by alien DNA? If she didn't believe in the aliens, then how could she believe his illness was caused by the DNA of beings she didn't believe in?

She has gradually become less and less of a skeptic and now, IMO, is on the believer side of the fence. No, she will not automatically ascribe everything to aliens, she is a scientist. She will look for the "normal" scientific explanations first, but she is now willing to consider and sometimes ascribe to the paranormal and/or alien.

So, I would say she is definitely a big help to Mulder in the alien dept. as well. Even when she was a skeptic, she was always willing to follow him to the conclusion of his theories. Sometimes she vocally disapproved but she backed him up anyways, other times she covered for him, but she was there for him either way.

As for being IN LOVE, as kenamom and some others have said, being in love does not mean that you always believe the same things or that one is as physical as the other. It doesn't even mean you need a lot in common. My parents were happily married their entire lives and they had very little interests in common. Or political/spiritual views.

Sorry, my friend. You still haven't convinced me.

DRH :-)
