One million an ep is good money, but I don't think DD will come back for another season. The first reason why I think this is that DD kind of hates his job. He no longer has any interest in playing Mulder and he seems to be bored with the whole show. I read an article where I think he was asked how he would feel if he was seen in an XF convention when he was 65, and he ansewred that we should shoot him and put him out of his misery. That's not what I would call enthusiasm.

And there are a couple of what ifs to consider IMO. This season has even less new eps than last year (if the episode guide in the official XF site is complete that is), and that means that he'll probably make less then 22 million if he chooses to do another season. Now, what if DD wins his lawsuit against FOX? He'll win more or at least close to what he would make if did an extra season without nearly having to work as much at a job that he's kind of fed up with.

What if DD's movie career takes off with his upcoming film? I'm sure that he'd rather pursue a movie career instead of doing another season, even if it meant losing about 20 million that he might still end up making in the long run making movies.

That "new actor to play Mulder" idea is just plain ridiculous IMO (even if I'd still probably watch the show if it wasn't too bad :-) ), the XF isn't a soap opera, you can't just change the Mulder character and put some other guy instead after such a long DD run.

And finally my main concern about there being an 8th season is what would it be about? Mulder's search for Samantha is over, his parents are dead, he's all alone in the world (and the Mulder bloodline is in serious jeopardy if you ask me) and the whole alien plan thing is as good as resolved or it will be by this season's end. A season of M and S getting even closer and falling in love would be just awful! :-P

I think it's time to end the series this year, there isn't anything else for CC to write about IMO, it's better for the whole thing to end now before the XF becomes a BAD show.
