Subject: So Samantha's dead...it's better this way.

It is sad that Samatha Mulder died years ago, but at least Fox got a good closure for the whole situation. He was lucky to get to see her one last time like that, not many people do.

I also think that it's a good thing she's gone, because even if Scully'sMyHero doesn't think so, I still say that if Mulder had found Samantha, there would have been conscious or unconscious expectations on his part for her. Mulder has been looking for Samantha for almost as long as I've been alive on this Earth. That's a long time considering how much someone as smart as he is, could have accomplished in that time. He could have been a millionaire like DD! ;-) I'm sure he's even smater than him.

Sure, one could say that Mulder loved her and would have kept on loving her no matter what kind of person she'd turned out to be, but I don't think that's true. Suppose Samantha had become an agressive and paranoid woman who hated men, because of all the ones that have used her and let her down during the years (her father let the Syndicate take her, CSM experimented on her, the doctors in the facilities, Fox for taking so long to find her). Now imagine that she was greatful that Fox had found her, but at the same time she couldn't bear the sight of him for long periods of time, because she blamed all the people in her family for all the pain she's endured during all those years and whatnot.

How do you think Mulder would feel, he would have wasted about 20 years of his life to find a woman that he hardly even knows and that has demons that prevent her from living a happy and full life. I think that he would have felt hurt and VERY disappointed.

No one IMO works or waits for something for that long without having a few hopes or expectations for that someone or something. So I say that it's better that Samantha died a long time ago, because I'm almost certain that she wouldn't have lived up to Mulder's expectations.
