As I was writing my post, you were writing yours and we're exactly the opposite, det. (Big surprise.) I mentioned how I liked the prostitute scene and you thought she was a bad actress. I thought Wetzel (thanks for the name) sucked and you gave him a thumbs up. Maybe we get different versions of the ep piped into our TVs up here? ;-)

Funny, I didn't think of the macho routine until you mentioned it. But Mulder was definitely doing some posturing. He wanted his 15 minutes of fame and Scully wasn't going to rain on his parade. I was hoping they'd do a nod, when the cameraman was alone in the car with Scully, by having him ask her about the nature of her relationship with her partner, but alas... ;-)

There were a lot of Mulder smiles this time. Wonder why, actually? Part of him wanting to seem charming in front of the cameras? The whole scene certainly rarely gave him anything to smile about.
