I too thought of the Emmy word whilst watching this. Wow, S4. Seems so short ago.
Which ep is Demons? I'm not good with the names and any ep prior to S6 I have no idea of names but for a few. What happened in this ep? I might have it on tape. Oh hang on. Is it the one where Mulder was having the flashbacks and he confronted his mother about her business with CSM? She slapped his face as I recall. I agree she does have a dark side but I haven't seen her overtly show this to Fox. I do agree that she knew more than she let on and Fox did suffer for it. But I did think the Demons scene was just one time that they have disagreed and for him to go and confront her shows that they must have had a fairly close relationship to be able to talk about such things.

I found the scene with her and Mulder in Biogenisis very touching. Didn't she say "I love you my darling boy" She had nothing to gain by saying that as she didn't know he could here her. So she was genuine. The only thing that I don't like about her is the fact she killed herself before she told Fox what she had planned to and had set out to. Yeah it was his fault for being inattentive towards her by not returning her call but I think she could have waited at least for him to do that. She did come back as a ghost to help him but I think some real live help would have been better.

And maybe all this time she may have [mistakenly ]thought that she was protecting him. Maybe letting him take the blame and guilt of Sam's disappearance was far better than him knowing the real truth. That may have been worse....or so she may have thought. I'm not really sticking up for her but I don't think she was that bad either.
