I try not to think much about when eps were written or taped etc compared to where they appear in the lineup. [Take a look at S8. It is all over the place]

I didn't know NE was taped earlier but I do think that Scully's bad mood had something to do with the cancer. I agree with what devlin said which is kind of what i tried to say but couldn't get clear.

I don't think it was entirley due to the cancer but I think by getting a big jolt like that...and remember Scully didn't really know if she had it or not..... it sent her a bit off beam and got her starting to think about her life so far and how procuctive it has been and how much of it has really been her own.

Maybe it was just an ep written seperately and CC just decided to slip it in between LB and MM to drag out the suspense of the cancer. It was a good ep to put in here coz it made us think that she was scared , not knowing if she had cancer or not. And CC wouldn't have put it in there if he didn't think it would add to the cancer arc.
