Subject: That's what I do!

I ask a question, cos it's a good one, but then I can't even come to a conclusion about the answer! I reckon the next question I pose should at least be accompanied by my own answer. That's my aim....

On the subject of chemistry - worst chemistry, but was it affected by outside sources? - was 'Syzygy'. Also, way back in 'Soft Light', Mulder and Scully seemed at odds all the way through and Mulder was quite dismissive of Scully, in her support of that rookie female detective. 'Soft Light' is also the home of my 'favourite' disparaging look that they exchanged - as they get into a lift together. There's such a look of sneering derision on their faces, particularly Mulder's!

My faves are the eps when they end up really talking: 'Detour' and 'Quagmire'. There was a really nice feel between them too, throughout the recent 'The Goldberg Variation' When they are out of their normal sphere, like 'Darkness Falls' they often have good interaction too.

Apart from the above, there are probably lots and lots of eps where they are in tune (or not), but so often the writers separate Mulder and Scully within an episode, mainly for the purpose of jeopardy, so they don't really have time for talk. In the beginning, some of the nicest bonding scenes were the explanatory scenes in the office but that formula became a bit tired.....
