I know in other counties when children are sent home a certain number of times with headlice then the department of children's services is contacted. Why do we not have that policy in UC? And if we do why is it not inforced? I'm not saying go in and forcfully take these kids out of the home but maybe if a child is sent home from school 7 or 8 times why not do some investigating about this child's welfare, it may just be a case of not being able to afford the treatmend (it's not cheap) or it could actually be a case of full blown child neglect. I know that's easy to say when it's not my kids but when the same kids are sent home every week and they are in the same classes and areas as my kids then it does become about my kids to a certain extent. Maybe the schools could even keep a few of the treatment kits to send home with the kids that have been sent home more than a few times. Just a thought.
