"Dern ferners move in here and start organizing!"
-My attempt at humor.

Now don't take this county as against new arrivals. Many new arrivals bring ideas that have really helped the county. Join Union County and the people will go out of their way to help you. Come into the county and start muck dragging us to the media and talking down to us and you will meet resistance. I'm not saying you will but speaking only of past situations.

I say that so you won't think that Union County has an insider outsider mentality...WE DON'T!

Now, you have the best idea I have heard in a while.

We do need a PTA, and I will sign on to help you 100%. We did have one a couple of years ago (made up of natve Union Countians). They fell apart because they couldn't decide on whether to be a PTA or a PTO. I don't care if you call yourself an EI-EI-O if you help the schools.

We have two or three totally lousy teachers but it is at an all time low. We have a school board that is useless (having 15 minute meetings to decide 14 issues). We have a Director of Schools that wants to do well and will listen if you meet with him. But what we don't have is organization.

Teachers don't trust Central Office and get no help from the School Board. Central Office judge all teachers on what a few vocal ones say. Both the teachers and Central Office have good ideas, but nobody to get between them and moderate.

Your PTA and PTO could easily fill that void as well as help the kids.

Good luck and if I or this website could be of help to you call on me.
