Subject: So this is where John Doggett hangs out?
In reply to: detoured 's message, "Is Doggett raiding Mulder's wardrobe?" on 17:01:23 03/07/02 Thu

Thanks for the question CW. I am quite impressed with how strong a character Doggett is, even from the off. He was so dedicated to his task and even if he was aware that there was this 'alien thing' potentially about to send his investigation off course, he still got on with it and made progress. And he cleverly ended up with the same conclusion as Scully and Skinner had done, regarding Gibson.

To answer your point, Det: I think Doggett took a risk with Scully, but he probably knew how much she would defend Mulder and that she would dig her heels in if he started to ask questions in the usual way. I kind of admired his sneakiness (although I shouldn't say it) because it was an unorthodox approach and where TXF are concerned, unorthodox is good. All to Scully's credit then that she sussed him out and was able to divert him. After that, I think Doggett would have begun to realise she is no pushover.

I liked it at Mulder's apartment when both said they were there to feed the fish, yet Scully didn't know where the fish food was and Doggett did. That made me laugh.
