I one sense I agree with you in that to mix up Myth up with a MOTW might confuse viewers, but I find that when we have the "to be continued" kinds of episodes, more people who don't watch if they missed the first part and it doesn't seem to matter if the episode is myth or MOTW. I took my whole family to FTF and took maybe ten minutes in the car to set the scene for them--they caught on well enough to ask all the right questions (not bad for a car full of football and sit com addicts.) Anyhow, my point is that as long as viewers have a simple understanding of what the show story line is about or where the movie fits into the story line, I think (maybe too naively as usual) that viewers maybe could enjoy it without necessarily watching all the episodes. The rest of us long-term viewers just will enjoy it from a different perspective because we have the whole story.

The mythology is sort of tricky to catch, I think, because there is so much to watch for in each episode. I find new things in each show--even for the third or fourth time I've seen it. That's why I want to have good tapes so I can go back and watch for hints. I wish I was better read in some of the areas of Native Mythology but now at least I have topics I can look up. Right now Î find myself looking for all the subtle interactions between S&M that reflect the development of a possible romantic relationship.

Sorry about the run on sentences--bad habit. I guess I will take whatever they write--movie or TV show just as long as they keep XFiles alive and well!
