Subject: One thing I really liked about "The Lone Gunmen". . .

was that it accurately portrayed journalism as a not-particularly-lucrative profession!!
My husband and I are both journalists and, while there may be a few highly paid editors and columnists at newspapers in some of the nation's largest cities, for the most part it is pretty poorly paid profession. But, for some reason, most TV shows and movies portray newspaper reporters as living this glamorous, sophisticated lifestyle. We spend a a lot of time hooting at the TV every time we see a newspaper reporter shown as living in a house with a swimming pool in the backyard, driving an expensive car, etc. . .it just doesn't happen.
To put this is perspective, my best friend graduated with a degree in elementary education at the same time I graduated with a degree in journalism. While we both have kids and have both alternated between working full-time, working part-time and staying at home during the intervening years, I have *NEVER* outearned her.
So. . .the depicitons of the original three gunmen all living in the same place and, apparently, having only one vehicle between them, actually come across as pretty realistic!
