I'm reading the Nielsen listings, too! I read them straight off the Associated Press Entertainment Wire, because I work at a newspaper. The ones I'm seeing had the most recent ep ("Redrum", I think it was; anyway, the one than ran on Dec. 10th) coming in at 40th. There was a number of something like 8.4 or 8.5 million next to it; I'm not sure if that was supposed to be total viewers or total households.
I do know that XF does better in the 18-49 age group than it does overall. (Very few people under 17 or over 50 watch the show.) So maybe the ratings the LA paper runs are for that age group only???
As for Scullylite eps once Mulder returns. . .it makes sense, both in terms of plot (Scully will be *VERY* pregnant by then; I just really can't see her running around shooting at mutants in her last trimester) and common sense (poor GA will need a break!) but I still hope it doesn't happen. However, I could handle a couple of ScullyLITE eps; something along the lines of "Chimera" from last year, or "Sleepless" form Season Two, where Mulder did all the actual investigation and Scully mostly just talked to him on the phone. What I wouldn't be interested in watching is a totally ScullyLESS ep, where Mulder just tells Dogsbreath "Oh, Scully's home resting" and we don't even see her at all.
I also hope they do several Dogsbreathlite or even Dogsbreathless eps late in the season. Not only does the character get on my nerves, I would think poor RP (whom I have nothing against) would be ready for a break by that point!
