From the first time I saw Ruth I knew there was something special about her. I myself am from Jamaica, ofcourse I'm cheering for Ms. Jamaica as well. But there is something very infectuous about Ruth, and I think the judges will see that. I am not that impressed with Puerto Rico, and I doubt she will have as much luck as Denise did last year. She will have the home crowd advantage, but I think Ruth's carisma with prevail. I am especially excited for Ruth because she is the first black woman to win the Miss DR pageant. I think it's the year of the woman of color. It started with Hale Berry winning the Emmy for best Actress, and the tradition of excellence will continue with Ruth. If hope that every person from DR flies to Puerto Rico to support Ruth because she will bring so much pride to a country that has not always acknowledged it's people of color.

Ruth Ocumarez con su belleza unica y su inteligencia incomparable ha demostrado ser la mejor candidata del ostentoso concurso de belleza Miss Universe. Yo ya la siento Reina, y estoy segura que volvera a su tierra natal La Republica Dominicana con la frente en alto y con la corona puesta. Te aprecio Mucho Ruth y tienes todo lo que te Mereces! Siempre te deseare lo Mejor!
