GETTING TO KNOW JANELLE:
During the four months of volunteering with my charity assigned during the pageant I helped to enhance the quality of the Summer Vacation Camp by assisting in their 'Passport' Programme, - A programme geared towards teaching children between 7 - 12 years of age about countries in the world.
It involved creating mock passports for the children and booking appointments with varying embassies, consulates resident in Trinidad, taking the children on the informative visits and having their 'passport' stamped with the mock 'visa'. It was very enlightening to the children as well as myself to learn so much more about other countries outside that which the media portrayed.
In addition I tried as much as possible to showcase the YWCA of Trinidad & Tobago via the media and at any official engagement.
I sincerely wish to continue work with the YWCA to encourage other young people, especially girls to get involved in something positive.
I consider myself to be very organised and I pay great attention to detail in order to be fully prepared for what ever situation arises. I have often been described as punctual, neat and tidy and always willing to accept responsibility and rise to a challenge.
As a student at Providence Girls Catholic High School, Trinidad & Tobago, I developed a love for Visual and Computer Art. As A result, I ventured further into computer graphics and taught myself to use the programmes on my computer to enhance documents and this skill also assisted me in creating the 'passports' for the YWCA Summer Camp. Given the opportunity I would like to further develop that skill.
When any spare time occurs, I enjoy taking care of the many plants at home and being with my pets - 2 dogs Lulu, and Jovi, and several aquarium fish .
