I loved the Firefly reference, too!

I continue to laugh at the idea of Castle being "irresponsible" person. . .when this ep showed him picking up his daughter and her friend from a party, because the friend was drunk (and he had told his own daughter to call him immediately if anything happened at the party to make her uncomfortable) and then calmly informing his daughter that, yes, they did have to inform the friend's parents of the situation. He's easily the most responsible father TV has depicted in the past 20 years!!

I really love the relationship between him and his daughter; it's obviously based on deep love, mutual respect and no confusion about who is the parent. While I started the watching this show because of the mystery aspects (and the possibility of a romance between Castle and Beckett) the main reason I tune in now is for Castle and his daughter. It's great to have a parent-teenage child relationship on TV that's NOT dysfunctional.
