The original V mini-series was supposed to be about a fascist take over of America & the resistance that followed. The network balked and asked for the baddies to be aliens instead. People could take it if it was aliens.

Yes, the V was spray painted on the visitors posters. This was used by resistance groups during World War II as was the first 4 notes of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony (da-da-da-DUM!).

The mini had on it's credits a dedication to all past, present and future resistance movements. Doubt we'll be using that on this one! The world has changed, in fact they should have thought harder about it back in '83.

Water is going to be a problem like oil in the future. Some have predicted wars over water access. We have plenty on the east coast as we had a very rainy spring & summer. Perhaps we could send Cali some? Just a slight mark up.

I think the writers should have thought of a new approach, perhaps even the visitors not wanting anything-just being magnanimous. Would we look a gift horse in the mouth? Would we be to scared not to welcome an obviously superior culture that we'd assume could destroy us with ease?
