Actually it doesn't really seem up your alley, but in that show the biggest bad ass character on the entire show is Angela Petrelli, who is a woman in her mid to late 50s. When the show started she seemed a secondary character to her two sons, but as the story has unfolded we've seen that she is a very powerful woman and her story lines are bigger and bigger. She's awesome.

The Office also has a number of older women. Meredith, Phyllis, and Jan are all in their 40s or 50s (Phyllis).

Detoured I forgot about Medium! I started watching that show late but I watch the reruns on Lifetime and I love it. You're right, Allison and Joe are a great TV marriage.

I wish there was a show like Golden Girls on these days. That show was so unique and it really does stand the test of time. I laugh my butt off when I'm watching the reruns. Of course I also laugh my butt off at Three's Company.
