Anything goes on our free to air TV, especially SBS. God you should see some of the foreign films they have on there. Killer Condom is one that I really love. It's hillarious. But there have been really raunchy dutch, french and eastern bloc films on that channel. [it's the foreign channel]Queer as Folk is on that channel with really explicit sex scenes between gay men as well as crude language. The other channels don't have that much stuff on them but many movies have nudity, sex, violence, crude language etc and there is always a warning before it starts. They are usually on late.....after 8:30pm. The TV channels don't put that fog screen over the rude bits either unless it is during the news at 6 o'clock or something. But we did get to see Janet Jackson's boob in the early viewing time. Boobs aren't an issue I suppose.

We are probably a bit too rude. I don't mind a bit of rude humour but I draw the line when I tape a late movie that is appropriate for children, i.e.Harry Potter and similar types of movies that run into the late hours, and then the next day my kids have to sit through crude disgusting ads for hookers and phone sex texting which show girls in french lingerie doing all sorts of lewd actions on a bed beside and sometimes with eachother. I think if a PG movie runs late, those ads should be banned from being shown in it. It's disgusting enough when I have to watch them during a late movie but I don't think kids should be exposed to explicit ads during a movie that is totally appropriate for them. So I think we really go overboard in some respects.

Yes you americans are odd with your tastes. You go from having the most outrageous things happen in your country [yes I have watched Jerry Springer]to crazy religious snake handlers to rednecked lynching racists to Klu Klux clans to covering up Janet Jackson's boob and going on and on about how terrible it was forever and ever. And your sense of humour is so unlike ours. We and the British are basically the same.

Remember the guys who broke through the APEC summit security? Well I watched their show the other night and they went into the RTA in Sydney to apply for a driver's license and they put on a big show about wanting it NOW and they broke into this big song and dance routine about why they had to get the license NOW. It was hilarious but the asians and indians serving behind the counter were aghast!!!. They ran for security and were very frightened and confused about what was happening. But the Aussies in the waiting room were laughing and they thought it was funny. It is weird how people are different and react according to their sense of humour. Basically we laugh at and make fun of anything and everything. IF those guys had broken through a security set up in America they would have been shot or carted off to Guantanamo Bay. Even going into the RTA and singing for the license I"m sure would have had them arrested in America. Or I could be wrong.
