We don't have many remotes. We bought a remote holder but they never get put there. The only remote is for the digital set top box that we don't even use. We only have a remote for the video/dvd player and the telly. That's it. IN the other rooms there's a remote each for the TV and video and often they are lost so we do it manually anyway. We don't have a stereo in the same room as the TV so we don't have to worry about remotes for that. But we always have to go hunting around because people don't put them in the holder each night. I'm just waiting for the dog to swallow one.
