I do't know if anybody here has seen the movie yet but I have and am happy to say that the screen writers and Ron Howard have made the BEST movie ever. By that I mean a movie which keeps the integrity of the book intact. The characters names are accurate, their genders are correct, the settings were just how I imagined them, and the plot follows the book without anything really being changed. Plus Tom Hanks did a great job, IMHO but then I enjoy watching his movies.

Personally I absolutely despise it when a really good book is altered (not just edited) to make a movie. If the book is a lousy one I really don't care. Case in point was the made for tv movie based on Rober Ludlum's book Covert One, The Hades Factor. Names, character's genders and a few rather pathetic ommisions of important details were thrown at the viewers. Maybe those individuals who hadn't read the book would have noticed but anyone who has read it would have caught them right away. This movie isn't something I would ever buy on DVD or rewatch. I'll go re-read the book.
