Actually, I saw the whole first season of the new show except for one ep. I got a friend who gets all the shows from the UK almost right away. This season being shown was broadcast in the UK last spring.

I think the show is nicely improved. More modern, more ep to ep continuity (big tie up at season's end), more of the companion being as important as the Doctor himself. They changed the format to 45 minute eps (1 hour w/commercials). No parts 1-4 or 1-6 like they used to. They did manage three 2 parters so you do get those wonderful cliffhangers. This season was very Earthbound, no alien worlds but they do go to the future alot & once to the past. Two of the Doctor's old enemies are back & upgraded but plenty of new enemies. I think a newbie could easily get into it.

They will repeat the second ep Friday at 8 followed by the third ep at 9. Sure there are a few letdowns but I'd say of the 13 eps, maybe 4 stunk & the rest were good to great. Christopher Ecclestone(28 Days Later) is the Doctor but only for this season, he was replaced already by David Tennet(Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire).
