I liked the new series. I really liked the doctor immediately. He is very cheeky like Tom Baker without trying to be a clone of TB. Had his own style as well. That's why I'm very disappointed that he only did one season and regenerated so soon. I would have loved to have had him do at least one more season as I thought he was quite appealing in the role. The companions I can always do without. I didn't like that they left the bloke behind so soon. The stories were good and a bit spooky, especially the war one with the gas masks. I used to tape it and watch it later as I prefer to watch Inspector Lynley Mysteries on another channel so there were some eps that I did not get around to watching. I must say that the new show, as much as I enjoyed watching, does not cause me to become fanatical again and if I miss an ep then I don't care as much. The kids actually enjoyed the new series more than I did. I am still fanatical about my old shows and it always amazes me how when people criticise the old shows, they just can't move on from the cheap props and old fashioned FX. If you can call them that. My kids pick on everything FX whilst watching the old shows but I tend to purposely ignore the shaky line around Jon Pertwee as he stands on Metabelis 3 chatting with a plastic spider. The old shows were fantastic and one must watch them in the perspective of that era. I really hate the constant references to bubble wrap [which was a new invention at the time] on Space Station Nerva.

So for anyone wanting to know....yes the new show is worth watching and I'm waiting to hear when the next season starts here so I can check out the new doctor. It's a much faster pace designed for the modern day lights/bells/whistles brigade of TV watchers who can't and don't want to listen or think when watching a programme.
