Subject: LOST..what the heck?

I saw the first ep but fell asleep at about the half way point and then woke up for the ending. Could someone give me a synopsis? I love how the opening seemed like someone's flashback (I was thinking Locke's) but then was in the current time as mystery man must have been down there for decades. Some kind of Cold War shelter?

I couldn't stay up for Invasion, was it any good?
