I don't mind that Jack is the hero and the one with the big revelations and all that. What I do mind is that they expect us to believe that one of the most highly trained, sensitive offices in the country is filled with such pettiness and incompetance. And yet they do it every year. There are plenty of ways to have struggles in the office without resorting to the same tired old things again and again. Same with Jack only being able to trust one person in the office. Give me a break.

I agree that the Sec of Def's son does not deserve torture. I think that Driscoll ordered it because she felt so inadequate after NOT getting any information from the Turkish terrorist.

The Aisha Taylor character reminds me of Carrie in season two, the one we thought had some sort of crush on Michelle but it turned out to just be about a man (because what else would women ever fight over?). If they had taken the Carrie storyline in a different direction it could have been interesting, so maybe they'll learn something from that. Though I'm not optmistic considering the way this girl got into CTU was through sleeping her way to the top and blackmailing CTU personnel. Because how else would a woman get to the top? God forbid she just be competent and ambitious. Sorry, but a lot of the time I feel like 24 short changes women. With the exception of Michelle last season, the only women ever portrayed as intelligent are also evil.

This entire post has made it sound like I'm disliking 24 already. That is not true. I think it's been very good so far...but I just see the potential to make it better and wish the writers could go in different directions.
