"Oh, Lia!" She steps forward quickly, rushing to thrust her muzzle gently upon the mare, so that she might arrouse her from her sleep. It surely must be sleep...
When the mare does not move, the tears let loose, pouring down her delicate muzzle, a beautiful waterfall in tribute to the mare she'd so hoped to befriend... She takes in a shivering breath, carefully and slowly reaching down beside her to pluck the most perfect flowers. As she lays them upon the other mare's neck, her face settles with determination and her tears ebb. "Lia, for you I will raise your daughter, as humbly and as well as I can, as I would do for my own." More quietly she adds, "And as I would have others do for my own..."
She lingers for a moment more, staring upon the lifeless mare, before taking a deep breath and stepping round to the blood bay filly. "Come now, little one... She is in a better place now, and will want you to be strong, for her..." Gently, cautiously, she nuzzles the filly, attempting to convince her to move with her towards Golden Eclipse and the two other foals, so that she too might nurse...
