I have heard good and bad about the pageant as far as judging..I just think some parents go through alot to get their children prepared and it hurts them not the children if they do not win.

Are you entering the Nationals, State or Preliminary Sunburst Pageant? Preliminary fees are far less than the State or National fees. If you jump into the Nationals without going through the prelim and state...or atleast the state pageant then the fees do seem a bit steep. Beauty (manditory for Prelim) is $40 then you pick your sides which are usually $10 each. If you place in the top 4 of your age division you win your beauty entry to the state level(usually around $200) with a manditory Swimsuit or other division you must pay for along with any sides you wish to enter...sides are photo, prettiest hair, smile, fashion, eyes, tallent etc. and were $40 each for the state pageant we participated in. You must enter all catagories to be considered for the overall and supreem. And the National fees are more ... especially if you did not reach the nationals from going through the Prilim and State as many of the other contestants did. How would it look if 45 girls in one age division represented the state of say...Florida but only 2 went all the way through, went before several judges, each time competing against 30-40 other girls and passed to the Nationals. Not to mention all the outfits and practices through the state level and then on to the Nationals with new outfits and more practicing. I dont want to discurage anyone from competing at a Prelim, State or National level...basically I just wanted to say that the National fees, if you do not work your way through the system are greater for a reason. It would not be fair to the Preliminary contestants if the fees were the same for each level.
