If you think they are getting rid of RW and paying more than a million dollars in coaching salaries next year you're nuts.

You need to stop thinking small-time. That's what got us to this point in the first place. Our program requires a serious investment and commitment, not more throwing nickels around as if they are manhole covers.

Are you going to give them the million plus dollars to get it done? That's the damn problem manhole cover guy. Where's the money going to come from???

They won't need $1 million. The coaching salaries are already an established budget cost of say, $450K per year. We're already paying that. Now we just have to find another $400K or so to make the head and assistant coaching positions more attractive.

That's why CC has a professional athletic director and professional fund-raisers. Time for them to do their jobs.

And as I said, get creative with the buyout for Reggie's final year. Show him that he's better off, tax-wise and security-wise, to defer his one year of $250K salary over four years of $65K or five years of $50K, so its easier on CC's budget.

They won't need a million lol? It would cost them well over a million in salaries for one year. What are you talking about? Another 400k? How do you figure that? The head job alone should be 400. Plus his assistants and a DOBO.

Reading comprehension is hard.

We won't need an ADDITIONAL million a year because we are already spending half that. So $500k is a fixed cost we have already budgeted, no matter who coaches.

And if the new head coach makes $400K per year, we'd have to pay the three assistants and DBO $150K each to reach a million. That's not going to happen.

Who ever said an additional million Left Out Griff??? They are not going to pay a million plus dollars for basketball coaches - both past and present - next season. Do you comprehend that???

Just stop, dude.

Every single post you made mentioned a million dollars. Or more.

Post 1: "paying more than a million dollars in coaching salaries"

Post 2: "Are you going to give them the million plus dollars to get it done?"

You are wildly overestimating the salary of the assistant coaches.

Post 3: "It would cost them well over a million in salaries for one year."

Dude? What are we 15?

I'll say it one more time. They are not going to pay a million plus dollars in salaries to basketball coaches next season. I'll break it down so maybe you can understand. If they fired Reggie and his staff and hired a new staff at presumably higher salaries.

RW - 265k
Hawkins - 110k
Schaetzle - 75k
Cage 75k

New Head Coach - 350k
Top Assistant - 150k
2nd Assistant - 100k
3rd Assistant - 80k
DOBO - 50k

$1,225,000 in coaching salaries for 2023-24. Not doing it.

I am totally in favor of paying our coaches a fair wage. CC is not in a position to come up with millions for our program. If we had some money, I would prefer that it be put into improving our facilities. Softball, one of most successful programs desperately needs a new facility, and the baseball area could also use some improvements. I often wonder what was the cost for the parking ramp demolition. It had to cost a small fortune. I'm hoping that area improves the look of the campus. Go Griffs and let's beat NU. Remember when that game drew 10K at the Aud. Be nice to see the KAC filled come Sat.

Assistants are on one-year contracts that expire on July 1. So we will not be paying anything to Hawkins, Schaetzle or Cage next season. Nada.

So, given your estimated salaries for the new staff of $730,000, even paying RW off at full value keeps it just under $1 million. Get RW to take a graduated payout over three or four years, instead of a one-year, highly-taxable lump sum, and the cost of salaries is well under $1 million, in the $800 K range.

The point is, either we decide to invest (spend more money) on basketball, or continue to suck. Pretty simple choice.

"Left Out Griff." What are we, 12?

Assistant coaches are not on one year contracts. That is simply not true.
