Subject: Boeheim fired

At long last, the Syracuse chancellor decided that Boeheim had outlived his value as coach. His recent and current team has suffered not just from his pigheaded style but from mediocre recruiting by his successor Autry and assistant McNamara. They have opted for athletes lacking the ability and determination needed to play his zone defense.

Syracuse is overmatched in the ACC and should never have abandoned the Big East.

Boeheim never wanted the ACC. It was a football move that he was against.

I remember the days when he would schedule games so that the first game away from the Dome would be a Big East Conference game.

Yes, it was football that drove the bus, even though football has not had nearly the success or national status as basketball over the past many years. Interestingly, Boeheim was against the move from Manley Fieldhouse to the Dome as he could not imagine the attendance that has occurred.

I question the choice of Autry who has zero head coaching experience and was a moron as a color commentator before he became an assistant coach.

No doubt Boeheim stayed way too long but the decision to leave the Big East was not about basketball but football $$. Same thing for Pitt and BC. They had no choice.
