I never said that NU has overtaken Canisus. We split this year. But now that you mention it, NU has a pretty good lead over the Griffs in the all time series. If you had to rank the Big Four in terms of all time series, the ranking would look like this:

1. St. Bonaventure

2. Niagara

3. Canisius

4. Buffalo

Niagara leads the Griffs AND UB by a pretty good amount in terms of wins and losses. Only St. Bona leads NU by series wins vs losses.

The title of the original post was "Niagara Has Overtaken Us". I don't think many are concerned with or talking about games from 70 years ago and all-time records.

I will say this, and I think you'll agree, those past years of the 50's, 60's and 70's were perhaps the best and most fun times of Canisius and NU hoops.

I know Tony (the former Mayor) very well, love the guy, and our discussions of the good old hoops days in WNY are a joy to talk about. I never attended NU, however, I did teach there, and I got to tell you the NU-CC games remind so much, I mean so very much of my alama mater (MSU) and Michigan rivalry. The intensity, "hatred" and fun in both series are unrivaled.

Griff, hang in there because I think there are better days in store for your Griffs. I truly admire your loyalty to Canisius.

Thanks for the kind words. 50's and 60's were a bit before my time but I have certainly heard many stories of the glory days. I do have fond memories as a kid of late 70's and early 80's. The Beilein years for me are what I'd love to be able to get back to some day.
