Google it if you really want to know. Schools from a lower conference do this as some sort of compensation.

Agree that it’s not the norm, it's possible for the buyout to be structured to include a potential game as a way to lessen the financial compensation owed. For example, in a specific instance, a coach's contract mentioned that the buyout amount could be reduced if the new school scheduled a game with the old school.
