Subject: Digital broadcast

Why don’t we have a digital Broadcast? I understand why we are not on the radio as we’d have to pay for that. I’m talking about a digital broadcast available on line . It provided a pregame so we could find out who is hurt and what’s going on with the team in general. A interview with the coach pre and post game . I thought we have all this ESPN provided expertise and equipment .the cost for this is minimal and good experience for the interns going it. The broadcast also allowed me to listen to the game while driving etc. what a joke we have become . Get your head out of your you know what Bill Marr and Guinness Stoute . It like you are trying to kill the program not promote it in any way. Just flat out lazy and stupid. Embarrassing. I would hope the people getting paid to do this would half my passion. WAKE UP Hello anybody oin there???

Not following this at all. A digital broadcast so you can listen in your car? And who is going to be the voice of this? What are you talking about?

Nothing. He's never done games when the Sabres are at home.

We did it for years WTF . Maybe that’s why we don’t do it because tech clueless people never were on the Griffs website and clicked on the link to listen to the game. Ya know Griffen Delapenna etc . Wtf you never listened to what you might call a radio broadcast but it was on the web. I would have it on my phone and listen through my car radio using Bluetooth. Get it now?

Griffin not Griffen. Like a Golden Griffin. Maher not Marr. Then do the same thing with the espn app and listen in your car moron.

It costs thousands, even after advertising, and that does not include the broadcasters (Jay Moran does most of the ESPN+ streams).

Speaking of ESPN+ streams, the majority of the conference and a lot of mid majors got rid of their audio streams because people are watching on ESPN+ (or another contracted streaming service).

Even in the car, as JB wrote, you can use bluetooth to play the audio of the broadcast.

Is this the same guy who claimed Canisius could just buy a videoboard for $150,000?

Duh you’re missing the point of missing the pregame and postgame stuff that is not on the espn plus broadcast. My whole point was we don’t have that anymore . Plus for away games the stupid announcers for the other team. Less info and transparency . You’re telling me we couldn’t do a digital stream cheaply. Thousands? Nonsense. I give up. You guys put your head in the sand and put up with less exposure . You are a big part of the problem . Don’t worry be happy. I’m gad you are worried about spelling more than promoting the program.

Who is going to orchestrate and conduct the pre-game and post-game interviews on the road? They send one guy - Matt Reitnour (who is the assistant AD) with the team to do everything else that needs to be done administratively, before the game, after the game, during the game, including ripping off a quick 90 second video with JC on his phone in the hallway after the game. Remember when zero games were on TV? Now they all are. And you seriously still want a digital broadcast to listen to? Really? And while we're at it, what exactly is it that you do to help in the promotion of the program?

I’m glad the games are on TV. Don’t we have an ESPN studio at the school? Don’t we have kids in that program? Can’t they do the coach sound bites and go on the bus to the games . Wouldn’t they jump at the chance to have it on their resume that they did live broadcasts etc. I’m complaining that the school doesn’t promote the program not the geezers on this board. But I do email all media complaining about lack of coverage. So maybe I should ask what you guys do. Hope you’re enjoying the great Fairfield announcers. Ok I’m out you guys are mean. I’m not the stupid Video Board guy. I’m a guy who wants the program to be promoted by the school in any way possible. Continue putting up with mediocrity boys. Go Griffs!

[> [> [> [> Re: Digital broadcast -- Money..., Sat, January 24 2026, 15:17:30

All these things sound great, but there's not enough money to make it happen. Want it to happen? Cut a check and get your friends to do the same. Most of the people who post here donate, buy season tickets, and have a relationship with the folks who promote Canisius Athletics. The marketing guy is comically transparent and accessible. I guarantee that no one in the MAAC is talking as directly and transparently to the fans more than he is. Matt Reitnour is approachable and gives out as much information as he can. Bill Maher never lets an email go unread, and responds to reasonable inquiries.

Canisius has a tight community. Frankly, if you donate, you'll be part of the inner circle that hears all the information, even more than you'd hear on a broadcast. Send an email or write a check, but you're just preaching to the choir coming on here demanding the school do more. We all want that, but it doesn't happen without more money.

Sure they could. So a program that struggles mightily financially is going to pay to put kids up in a Connecticut hotel for three nights and feed them ten meals each to have a couple of pre-game and post-game interviews? And I certainly wouldn't want to speak for JC but I seriously doubt that he and his staff would want to add to the travelling party so that he could conduct interviews that he doesn't want to do in the first place. I appreciate your desire to make the program better but c'mon man. This makes no sense.

Oh the beauty of the interview of the coach. Even though I loved him, all I can remember from Baron was bitching about the size of the crowd every single game or Reggie blaming everyone but himself. Boy I really miss those days. Pay attention and you don't need interviews before or after the game. And you obviously didn't know you can listen from the espn app because you are trying to change the subject.

JB clearly you are an ass hat . I know I can listen to the espn broadcast in my car . We did this digital stream for years. Where on earth did we get the money for all those years. It like we a a grammar school waxing the floor with wax paper on the students shoes shuffling around. I’m sorry you guys didn’t listen to it but a lot of us did. On the way to the game and on the way home. Guys in nursing homes who don’t have ESPN plus etc. I'm sorry you guys didn’t listen to it. FYI I give money to the program and I like Bill Maher but he has never had an original idea to my knowledge . Basketball is just one of our sports and they are all the same to him it seems. I’ll stop beating the horse to death.

Yeah I used to listen to games on "the digital stream" all the time because I had no choice and half the time it didn't work! Now they are on friggin television!!! My God. I bet you wish for the days of listening to Joe Louis fights on the old RCA too huh? Waxing the floor with wax paper on the student's shoes and guys in nursing homes? Griff is this guy real?

Last post I promise .
1. I always watched the away games on espn plus when possible. I miss the digital broadcast for the pregame and postgame shows. Also I’d turn it on during halftime for our announcers thoughts rather than the idiot other teams announcers . Especially Griffin. That’s my point I didn’t listen to the game rather than watch it on TV. Sorry you didn’t enjoy the pre and post game but I did. Sorry you didn’t like Jim Barons interviews but I’d like to hear Christian. We never ever hear from the coach during the season and that sucks. The coach’s caravan is before the season and the coach doesn’t
Even know Who is going to play.plus we have to listen to the blowhard Hockey coach. So god forbid We would get at least some insight and update from the coach as bad as you think it would be.way to prejudge.
2. You seem to make this a super expensive and
Difficult project . where on earth did we find the money and time 2 years ago when we did this . We are that much more destitute than 2 years ago .Come on man.
3. Not everyone has espn plus. The guy in the nursing home I’m told is a guy that was coming to games . He had some health issues lost his leg and is in a in facility in Batavia.
4. Just because you don’t pay attention or care about something others may enjoy it. I’m sorry I was mocking you. I don’t think you even knew it but have a little sense of humor. Have you ever had a good time? Do you know how to have a good time? Lighten up and maybe listen to someone else’s point of view. My friend likes Dennys breakfast . I explained to him why it sucks and the many other better places to go. He said so you don’t like Dennys breakfast but I do. It is what it is. I want more coverage and info and you don’t. Go in peace
Go Griffs!

Two years ago they weren't trying to scrape together every penny they could to buy video boards(and no I'm not joking this is being seriously researched) and pay players 20k a year. So yes, things are wildly different.

I don't know how you're not getting this:

1. They're trying to get several hundreds of thousands of dollars between donors, sponsorships, and guarantee games to pay for players.

2. Once they do that, they're going to try to spend more on the game day (videoboard) and program promotions.

Right now there's not enough money to do it all.
