Nothing says we can't do the same -- left-coast griff, Thu, March 12 2026, 15:14:58
It's possible for us to get naming rights for the KAC and Demske Sports Complex. Not going to get $31m of course, but anything is better than nothing, which is what we're getting currently.

Koessler & Demske -- NR, Fri, March 13 2026, 4:24:08
The KAC was built in 1968 at a cost of $3 million. In terms of purchasing power, $3 million in 1968 is equivalent to approximately $28.04 million today. This means that the general cost of goods and services is about 9.35 times higher now than it was in 1968. The Koessler Family donated a large portion of the funds needed for the project.
The Demske Sport Complex built in 1989 at a cost of $4.5 million. million in 1989 is equivalent in purchasing power to approximately 11.8 million in 2026.
To update both facilities you would need at least 40 million dollars. At some point Stoute needs to put some money into athletic facilities. Naming rights may generate some cash but no one is going to put their name on an aging asset & support programs which don't necessarily draw large crowds.
Both assets need to be refurbished & if the school was smart to acquire space across the street at the former Medaille property for practice fields.
We have a space issue within the building (ie locker rooms, equipment, etc.).
Our athletic facilities are not great which has an effect when it comes to recruiting. Look what Marist, Fairfield & Iona have done over the years.
McCann Arena (Marist): Known as one of the loudest, most intense atmospheres in the conference.
Hynes Athletics Center (Iona): Features a renovated, intimate setting with modern LED boards and high-quality sound.
Lee Mahoney Arena (Fairfield): A newer, modern arena featuring varied seating options, including cushioned armchairs
It needs to become a priority when 25% of your enrollment is around student athletes.

Re: UB gets richer -- The math..., Thu, March 12 2026, 16:45:23
There's got to be more to this with the SUNY system. The Bills got $5,000,000 a year for seven years from New Era and reportedly similar numbers from Highmark.
Alumni Arena and their stadium are absolutely not worth $2,000,000 annually. It would be the largest naming rights deal in their conference. I have to imagine that this is a bigger SUNY play with the other campuses.

Canisius needs to get creative with their marketing such as the XYZ Basketball arena at the KAC. They could/should do that with several buildings in campus

Unfortunately, Run Baby Run Arena is already taken. How about Imperial Pizza Arena? Saffron Kitchen Court? Manhertz Court at the Koessler Center? The Golisano Fieldhouse? Or my personal favorite (worth at least a couple mill)
"Pegula Pavilion"?

Beilein Court has a nice ring to it. It all starts with a vision & conversation with a benefactor. Go Griffs!

It’s absurd for anyone to get upset for UB selling naming rights. Totally within their rights to do so. Anyone who gets PO’s is just jealous
