Unfortunately! The only sports in Buffalo are the Bills, and Sabers. I believe the local media is responsible for a lot of this. The stations devote little time to sports, and with limited time it's the Bills, and Sabers. All other sports including college basketball are completely ignored. Remember when the evening news devoted 15 minutes to sports. Professional sports is also responsible for the present situation, since any competition for followers is not welcomed . As a long time fan of college basketball, I'm praying we don't lose it, but D 1 basketball is currently a total disaster.

To blame the local media is absurd . The media will cover and report on the teams that are of interest to their readers . Like it or not , the MAAC has never been embraced in WNY and never will be embraced . Also , schools like Canisius and Niagara do little to improve the situation , they are far from transparent and provide very little information to the media .

The same teams were in Buffalo during the Beilein era and we drew well. Even the bigger games during the Baron era drew 2k, even though he always bitched about attendance.
We won. That's what brings out the crowds over time.

Close to 18,000 people each day for the tourney.
The issue is our product has been meh. Fix that, win & good things will happen.
This town loves sports, yes pro first but we all deserve better vs. what we’re currently seeing on the floor.
Go Griffs!
