I'm tempted to give up on business books. There are too many “best practices” that are conflicting. I know you have a valid point about what works optimally for somebody won’t always work for anybody else.

Too many times companies that had the right stuff went wrong. Just as I and other I know start using these great new insights, we hear how the pioneering companies really didn’t succeed with teir insights. Then what can we do? Do we keep using what really didn’t work for “successful” failures? Do we leap to the next useless & harmful fad?

Anybody using the latest “insights” ends up in the dark & blind. Continuing on the path to hell means we get burned in the end. If we change to the next fad, we never get any long-term benefit either.

You’re right about being consistent. But I'm wondering if you’re wrong about what we should do consistently.

James Collins wrote about-facing brutal facts. Here a brutal facts: It’s a bunch of crap!!!

I wonder if the current problems with businesses today are owners and executives have no idea what they should do, so they copy somebody else.

I saw a bumper sticker: “Don’t follow me, I'm lost too.” It should be stuck on the foreheads & butts of every executes and consultant and “business coaches.” Every business school professors should have it tattooed on them.

I read what you worte for Elvis Presley Had (Many) A Clue. Too many who pretend & claim to have a clue have no idea what a is or how to identify it.

Or do you have some real insight I can use? I’ll check later.
