Hi Chris,

I really like John Stamos--I've seen him interviewed from time to time and he seems to me like a nice, reasonably down-to-earth kinda guy.

I too remember him as the teenage Blackie on "General Hospital", though I never watched the show as religiously as some of my family and friends did; also of course I remember him as Jesse from the cutesy sitcom "Full House."

For a variety of reasons, ER is no longer apppointment television for me--not the current show, at any rate. I have seen an episode or two with Stamos, though, and I think you're absolutely right about them trying to make his character the new Doug Ross. That was/is my impression also.

But you know, Chris, I think the producers of ER have been searching for a Doug Ross substitute ever since GC left the show. I've had that feeling from time to time watching Erik Palladino, who appeared (briefly) as Dr. Dave Malucci; Mekhi Phifer as the rebellious Dr. Greg Pratt; the wisecracking hotshot surgeon who romanced the widowed Dr. Elizabeth Corday (can't recall at the moment the name of the actor or his character; oh, well); and especially, earlier episodes featuring Goran Visnjic, the Croatian actor who plays Luka Kovac. Know what I mean? (Visnjic also had a cameo as an ill-fated soldier in GC's action thriller "The Peacemaker" back '97)

Not too long ago John Stamos starred in a funny sitcom called "Jake In Progress" where he played a NY publicist--remember that one? He was quite good (so was his co-star, the wonderful Wendy Malick, formerly of "Just Shoot Me") and I enjoyed the few episodes that ran--I was very disappointed when that show was canceled. I don't think the network (NBC?) gave it much of a chance, do you?

Lorraine
