Subject: The Cat in the Hat
The Cat in the Hat walks into the office,
In suit, tie, and nice leather gloves.
Only the hat upon his head
Gives a clue to who he was.
He sits at his desk, types out his memos,
Goes out to lunch with the people next door.
Keeps his desk clean, gets his work in,
Never talks back to the management on floor.
He lies in bed next to his wife,
Hearing the traffic and the neighbors cats fight.
That odd hat, though, still on his head,
Reminding of days when his eyes were still bright.
He smiles sometimes, when someone says,
"Hey, what an odd looking hat".
They never think, they never suspect,
That once long ago, he was a cat.
For after a wife, three kids and a car,
A job in the city, a house on the beach,
After years of yelling at the kids to behave,
To stop that, to not shout, to slow down, to sit…
That Cat in the Hat became the Fish.
