Author: Sir Fayle
Subject: Fayle, Keecadoran and Belamore

Belamore felt something stab
into his back--a huge, black raven
rammed it's beak again and again
into his back. The wooden body
armor was protecting him for the moment.
He hunched down to protect his neck.
With a vengeful "Caw" the raven
wrenched it's beak from the armor
and landed on its feet. Belamore
watched as the raven changed
into a catamount! It was ragged,
it's fur patcy, and only had one tush,
the other canine was gone. "Keecadoran,"
thought Belamore! And, even in it's
sorry condition, he was no match for
the evil cat. Belamore scooted
further into the cart, feeling
for a stick, a pitchfork, anything
to fight off the snarling animal.
It faced him, tail switching, eyes
yellow with feral light. It swiped
at him and missed. Swiped again
and drew bloody claw marks down
the side of his good leg.
"Away! away!" Keecadoran looked
to see who might be coming
to challenge her right to her prey.
Out of the forest, Sir Fayle rode
with his sword raised in his mailed fist.
Keecadoran left Belamore to face this new danger.
She snarled and backed away, then leaped!
She bore the rider from his saddle and
went for his throat. Her one tooth was
not up to the task. She swiped with her
paw, but, Fayle rolled away and was on his feet.
He advanced toward the spitting cat,
she backed away, snarling her anger.
Fayle bore down and stabbed with his sword,
the blade missed her heart, he slashed again
and caught her right hind quarter. She yowled
with fury and pain as the knight advanced toward her.
With one last screaming yowl, she turned herself
into a raven and flew off. Leaving Belamore and
Sir Fayle alone.
