A buried the poor bairn
beneath an oak, I wrapped
him in my best shirt,
no need to close his eyes,
he never opened them, never cried.
The lady was in some distress,
I helped her cleanse her self,
then carried her to my mount.
The lass had fainted.
I rode with her for
an hour or so, until I
came upon a cottage.
A woodcutter and his wife
dwelt there, close to the forest.
I left her there with those
good folk. And, gave them
5 pieces of silver to care for her.

The woodcutter pointed me the
direction I should go.
I ride to stand with
my liege and lord!
