Very few books really "captured" me when I was young, until my brother handed me the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy by Tolkien. I couldn't put those down. Read them all straight through. Needless to say, I think that's where my love for the fantasy/ scifi themes came from.

My son has pretty much duplicated this, with the Harry Potter series. Now we are fighting over who gets book 5 first. I figure I will need to buy two, since neither of us do the waiting thing well.
