Subject: Interesting post from VH1 re SP....

Most people know this, but thought I'd post this thread from VH1.com.....(:

Just wanted to share some info on Steve Perry with everyone. In another post, I stated that Steve sang back-up on a song that was released last year. The name of the song was "Wish You Were Mine," and it was sung by Tommy Tokioka, who is from Kauai(my home island).

The story behind the song is that Steve has a house on Kauai and lives there part of the year. (Remember in the BTM, he was in Hawaii when he began experiencing hip pain). Anyway, he frequents a bar in the area that this guy, Tommy Tokioka regularly sang at. Apparently, Steve really liked his music and offered to assist him in recording his CD. He may have written some songs, but he definately sang back-up on that song, which got massive airplay here. It became known as "the song that Steve Perry sings back-up on." Tommy's voice sounds very similar to Steve's, and both voices blended very well together. The song appears on the "Island Roots Vol.
#1" compilation CD of Hawaiian music. I do believe that Tommy has his own self-titled CD.

I just wanted to share that info. I can't believe Steve frequents and may be living in my former hometown (island), it almost makes me want to move back, just for the chance to run into him at the bar or at the store!! Hawaii No Ka Oi !!!
