Subject: A Quick Story about Steve & a Request for Help to Any of You

In 1983 or 84 I was visiting SF on a business trip when I had dinner at what was then Dalecio Le Coco in Mill Valley. This guy walked by my table and I realized it was Steve. My coworkers didn't know who he was. "Only the greatest voice on the planet", I told them.

After he left I confirmed it was him with the restaurant staff. Then an idea struck me. Steve was my sister-in-law's favorite singer, too. And she and I were on the outs at the time. So I went to a card store and bought a neat birthday card with musical notes on it, took it back to the restaurant and left a note asking Steve if he would sign it and send it to her (her birthday was just about that time of year). And that's exactly what Steve did, including a nice note. My sister-in-law couldn't believe it, but the card is still on top of her dresser to this day. And I have not forgotten this kindness to a stranger.

Now, I have a new double CD/book out called "Long Night's Journey Into Day" and would like to send Steve a copy with a "Thank You" note but I don't know how to reach him. I don't want to bug him, and I don't want to be his best bud. But I think he might enjoy hearing "the rest of the story" as they say. To see if I'm legit you may come to my website at www.stmichaelrecords.com to see what we are about.

Any help from anyone will be greatly appreciated. This small gesture from Steve meant a lot to me in my relationship with my sister-in-law, and is important because this is what God remembers, not that he was a rock star. After all, he didn't create his voice, God did. But he's the one who chose to be kind to others when he had the chance.
