I think a lot of the hostility is rooted in the the loss of the Journey come-back ~ for the fans. They had a new CD, and were anxiously awaiting the tour, then nothing. Then word that Steve was leaving, then nothing until BTM. There was a lot of speculation and wondering among the fans. And with that, sometimes anger builds. The need to blame someone for their perceived loss. So, Steve was the one to leave, Steve had the injury, Steve stopped the tour, so we're mad at Steve. Of course everyone was bitterly disappointed about what happened.. but sometimes life doesn't work out they way you want it to. You need to move past it, unfortunately, some won't or can't.
I would rather have Steve happy and healthy and never tour or sing again, than to know he went out on tour for us and endangered his health. He did the right thing, if you don't have your health, you don't have anything.. the people who support Steve, see and understand this.
