The best way to break in your shoes before you wear them to class, I have found, it to massage the box at the sides and gently on top, being careful not to crush it and to bend the shoe back and forth at the arch just to soften the shank. Rolling through demi-pointe up and down many times once the initial massaging has taken place will not only soften the shoe to your specific liking, it will also strengthen your arch. Your feet will soon be strong enough to break in the shoe without going through any extensive rituals. Also, it is very important to take care of your feet. Use propper pads for your toes, tape if you must (I have successfully avoided blisters and callouses for many years by wrapping my toes in saran plastic wrap, but that is my personal preferrence. My feet look great and I proudly wear sandals without worrying about how my feet look), but please DO NOT slam your shoes against any door. You need the support that the shoe offers. You want to "break in" your shoes not break them.
