Adoring gaze fixed on Shrineth's majestic form, Chuth croons softly in the back of his throat, not so much a message to the gold but an impulsive response to her beauty and the way it affects him. Wheeling as quickly as he can to follow her first move, he wonders for a moment if she's going to dive into the trees - but no, that would be stupid, she can't keep going down, and so he doesn't follow her downward angle. A moment later, his calculation is rewarded as she rockets upward again, and the bronze tilts sharply to follow her higher into the sky, still humming softly. (And, incidentally, slightly off-tune, but he's far too intoxicated by the fever of the flight to even realize that he is humming, nevermind whether it's on pitch.) He's not quite on her tail, though he strains to reach that enviable position, each powerful beat of his red-toned wings carrying him that slightest bit closer. Though he is certainly still cognizant of the other males, and where each of them are in relation to him, he has eyes now only for the queen's beauty, dazzled by the flash of sunlight off her golden hide and enchanted by the way her lithe form twists, graceful and taunting, through the thinning air. A quiet hiss of protest cuts off the off-tune humming abruptly as her glory vanishes, consumed by looming cloud, and recklessly Chuth hurls himself into it, unwilling to fall away from his queen. Cold white moisture closes in around him, blinding his faceted eyes, and he snarls this time, losing sight and track of the object of his affection. His wings still suddenly, the rustle of his own wingsails falling silent, and he coasts in frozen stillness through the cloud as he strains to hear some trace of Shrineth's own flight. To be seperated from her so suddenly is maddening, infuriating - he wants nothing more than to touch her, caress her, feel her hide against his own, but he had been content with sight and sound of her until she was ready and willing to accept his touch. To be robbed of even that-! The loss is intolerable, and he focuses all his will on finding her again. The cloud around him seems to cut off all sound, isolating, almost stifling, as if he's the only creature left on Pern, or perhaps not even Pern, a lone dragon lost in a limbo of endless dim white. Only the distant pulse of another mind, intimately familiar, part of him and seperate at once, keeps Chuth from keening with fear and loneliness. It's all right. I'm here. We're together. We'll find Shrineth, and we won't be alone anymore. The anchoring thrum of T'gan's thoughts - T'gan? Surely the voice is his own, but no, it's not quite the same - keeps Chuth focused and on task, and the flicker of existential angst lasts less than a second while he listens for Shrineth. It is not, in the end, precisely a sound that reconnects him, but the slightest vibration against his right wing, a flutter of wind where wind should not be. That can only be her, and Chuth spins, banking hard right and beating his wings anew, following the tiny tremor of Shrineth's movement. It vanishes within seconds, but now he's on her flightpath, and he can smell her, her rich, complex scent hanging heavy in the moist air. A thin coat of water droplets darkening the many earth-red shades of his hide, the bronze forges onward, drawing ever nearer to his exquisite, glorious queen. He doesn't bellow or bugle to let her know he's found her; he's not so crass as to shout his triumph to the skies, nor so foolish as to reveal his momentary victory when stealth may yet serve him better against her next trick. For Chuth (and the rational part of him that is T'gan) is supremely confident, as Shrineth's scent grows heavier and the lesser odors of other bronzes intrude irritatingly on its powerful perfume, that his queen already has something else in mind. Of course she does; she is Shrineth, after all.
