Garneth’s wings spread wide to use any available air currents as he followed Rishanath down. He veered, gliding gracefully southward, before accepting her challenge. He moved down low, but he couldn’t get as low as her. Her graceful, small form was more easily manoeuvrable than his, and she could go lower than he could, because her legs were smaller.
He was about three feet above the earth, not bad for one so large. He stretched out his neck and gave a softer, more enticing bugle this time, and his wingtip touched hers, to show how close he was. The sunlight flowed over him, gilding his muscular lines a fierce gold, the colour of a blazing flame. His movements were graceful, serpentine, and he moved his wings to go still lower, two feet. When she took them to the open skies, he would show her his skill! She may have been enraged, bout one of them would catch her!
W’ntyr dipped lower as Elaini did, and moved closer. He dared! He moved as his dragon did, and gave a low call as Garneth bugled.
Worthy? I know that not one dragon is worthy of you, my emerald princess, for your beauty is unmatched by any! Queens? I don’t need them! You are as royal as the greatest queen, and I will endeavour to prove myself more worthy than the rest of the throng!
