I'm sorry that I don't have any advice for you regarding school placement and IEPs as I am living in Canada. I do work with children here who are both deaf and autistic and I would highly recomend a signed home ABA program and a school environment where your child is surrounded by other signing children and adults and an aid to deal with problematic behaviors. It is often possible to train a university student to use the behavioral principles and shadow very young children in nursery or kindergarten programs. I recomend a signing environment as oppossed to having an interpreter as that way children can pick up on language incidentally and generalize what they have been specifically taught at home. I realize that this may not be possible in your situation however.I hope some of this is helpful. Sincerely, Sari Lauren
