In reply to: Vicki Thress 's message, "Educational Placement of Autistic/Impaired Children" on 06:27:22 04/21/03 Mon

I'll make this quick because I just spent 20 minutes typing a detailed response and the about.com site that the link is linked to with their annoying little active X links popping up every 3 seconds while I was typing was just not good enough for them since I ignored their sponsor links, so they take the liberty of backing up your browser by itself (CUTTING OFF YOUR TYPING PAGE) JUST TO SHOVE THEIR SPONSORS DOWN YOUR THROAT. Anyway, your child is DEAF, AND THAT'S HER PRIMARY DIAGNOSIS REGARDLESS OF ANY SERVICES SHE MAY NEED FOR BEHAVIORAL COMPONENTS OF HER MULTIPLE DISABILITIES. I would suggest if you quality to get a free special education attorney from your legal aid society to go to the IEP meetings at the school with you. I GUARANTEE YOU THEY WILL TRY TO HAVE YOU DECLASSIFY YOUR CHILD AS A PRIMARY DEAF CHILD TO BE PRIMARY AUTISM. DON'T DO IT!!!!! If you have any questions, email me at atlanticgreentide@hotmail.com, subject "DEAF AUTISM EDUCATION" and I will be happy to give you the insight I have gained over the last 15 years with my deaf/autistic child and what you need to do and where you can go as about.com is getting ready to erase me again! regards!!!! Please also tell me in the email the state in which you live, makes all the difference in the world! :)
