Kayak fisherman SabaSlayer posted this atCoastal Kayak

"I launched late around 10:00am. and got some trout size Sardines from Charlie at the receiver and paddle out along the break wall and slow trolled the 45' line going north for zip.Trolled the 55' line going back south for zip, then the north edge of the canyon was calling; so I zig zaged from 70' to 85' as I headed out I only had 2 hookups but they were both great ones. The first was a 15 or 20lbs. Halibut that came up to the Yak twice the second time I was just about to net her as she was floating on top but the 8oz. weight hanging there as I reached for the net caused it to go slack and she spit the hook right at me,damn it was a beauty but she is still there and I'll try for her again tomorrow weather permitting. The other hook up felt like a big Black Sea Bass it hit like a freight train and never stopped, when the line was almost gone I tightened the drag so the fish was pulling the Yak this lasted about 5 min. untill the 12lbs. leader couldn't handle it any more and busted at the hook, from the tail beats it seemed like it might have been another big Bass only much larger than the 25lbs. fish I caught a couple of weeks ago in the same area. !!!!GOOD LUCK!!!!"

Now thats an interesting local report.

Tight lines Jim
