Bottom line, the Westpac Council is irresponsible and has undermined the United States' ability to call for a global ban of shark finning by their actions. However I'm not worried as they have helped destroy their own power base and credibility to an all time low by their actions and shark finning will soon be stopped either by Congress or the secretary of Commerce. So all the arguments justifying finning just shows how morally corrupt some may get when it come to a fast buck.

As for Baywatch, you folks just don't get it. The Council can lie to the Hawaii State Legislature and the media and you don't say a word. The minute someone who has something constructive to say stands up like a Brooke Burns from Bay watch you're all quick to criticize. Well if you look at her testimony which said that "Proponents of shark finning claim that the shark populations in the
Pacific are healthy and therefore their's for the taking," Burns said."However, I understand that the scientific studies are not complete and I'm confused as to what study can possibly be done that will change the definition of 'waste'. Shark finning will always be a waste, regardless if it's done to a shark fishery that is over-fished or under-fished.

And then Compare her testimony to the Magnuson Act Section 101-627, 104-297 which states
..............to assure that the national fishery conservation and management program utilizes, and is based upon, the best scientific information available; ........ and encourages development of practical measures that minimize bycatch and avoid unnecessary waste of fish; and is workable and effective;

You'll see that Brooke Burns is more knowledgable about the law the Council is supposed to follow than the Council is.

Get over it guys............Shark finning is flat our stupid!!!!!!!!!
